Dog Training FAQ

You'll find my Frequently Asked Questions here!

Who is my trainer?

My name is Cecilia Ferneborg! I am certified since 2022 through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. I use a bond-based approach when training, and am committed to pain-free and fear-free learning. I never use outdated and scientifically disproven methods like pain, startling, and harsh tools - if you've been using these and want help transitioning off them, I'm here for you and won't judge!

I love helping dogs and owners work together as a team! You can find my website here if you'd like to read client testimonials and my full training statement: https://ceciliaferneborg.com/dog-training

What will lessons look like?

If you live in Philadelphia or nearby suburbs, I'll come to your home or another location that is convenient for you. Our sessions will last about an hour each, during which I'll demonstrate and coach you through exercises to teach your dog how to be their best self in our human world. I am experienced with a wide range of behaviors and different kinds of dogs, so you'll get a personalized plan that can encompass everything from enrichment/stress relief activities to basic training to working on more serious behaviors. I'll also give you written notes and videos following each session, when needed.

What does it cost?

My rates for lessons within Philadelphia and most nearby suburbs is $135 per a la carte lesson, or $505 for a package of 4 lessons. Virtual lessons are $75. I accept Venmo, PayPal, checks or cash (in person only).

*If you live outside my regular area of service, it's likely I can still come to you for a different fee*

The 4-pack of lessons expires after 4 months. You don't have to commit to any specific number of lessons, and we can decide on this after we meet and work together the first time! I'll never pressure you to buy more lessons than you want to at a time, and many people prefer the a la carte model even if they do multiple lessons.

When will I see results?

This depends a lot on your goals, your dog, and your family! Every owner/family is different, and so is every dog. For basic obedience training, you'll most often see improvement within the first week of practicing skills from our first lesson, and for more serious or concerning behaviors you'll learn safety management in our first lesson, while it will take more time for lasting changes - however, you might see improvement almost right away depending on what we're able to do in Lesson 1.

The number of sessions you'll need depends on your goals and how much support you want. We can discuss in person once I get to know you and your dog a bit more.
